Our revised IT Networks/Robotics program introduces students to the following.
IT Essentials
IT Essentials is a comprehensive course designed to provide foundational knowledge and skills in information technology (IT) and computer systems.
The course covers various aspects of IT, including:
- Hardware: Basic components of computer systems such as processors, memory, storage devices, and peripherals.
- Software: Operating systems, applications, and utilities commonly used in IT environments.
- Networking: Introduction to networking concepts, including protocols, topologies, and network devices.
- Security: Basic principles of cybersecurity, including threats, vulnerabilities, and protective measures.
- Troubleshooting: Techniques for diagnosing and resolving common hardware and software issues.
- Professionalism: Ethical considerations, customer service skills, and best practices in IT support.
IT Essentials often includes hands-on lab exercises and simulations to reinforce theoretical concepts and provide practical experience
Raspberry Pi
We use the Raspberry Pi to learn the following:
- Turn the Pi into a retro console. Emulate different retro games consoles
- Host a media server with your Pi 5. Stream images, videos, and music across your network
- Use the Pi as a cheap desktop PC
- Turn the Pi into a security camera
- Use the Pi for home network storage
- Use the Pi to monitor home automation
VEX Robotics

VEX Robotics is a platform for educational robotics that provides students with hands-on experience in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). In our class students construct a stock robot to learn the build process before designing their own robot to compete in our class Swept Away robotics game. The platform is designed to promote skills such as problem-solving, teamwork, and innovation among students of all ages.
