An excuse to get muddy at school. Ceramics at O’Leary is a Fine Arts class that is rarely offered at the high school level. Students will create sculpture in the round and garner a sense of appreciation of visual arts. Form and function of each of their works will be analyzed as well as personal development of their craft using clay. We have a whole room dedicated to 8 pottery wheels that students may use throughout their tenure in Ceramics. This is a 5 credit course with no junior high pre-requisite.

Ceramics 15 → Ceramics 25 → Ceramics 35.

Students may use Ceramics 35 for entry level programs in post-secondary such as U of A and Grant MacEwan.

Ceramics is for students who want to get away from everyday stress from other classes. If students want to come in and want to keep to themselves, work on projects while listening to music, by all means take this class. If students want to come in to work and socialize as much as they want, then take this class.

Take Ceramics. Challenge yourself. Have fun. Work at your own pace. Chill. Might as well get credit at the same time.
